Trev helps law firms generate legal documents using Clio matter data, AI-assisted workflows, and the firm’s own templates. This Privacy Policy explains how Trev collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website, application, and related services.
2. Information we collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Account information: name, firm name, email address, password credentials, and subscription status.
- Firm and user information: information about your firm, authorized users, preferences, and account settings.
- Clio-connected information: information you authorize Trev to access from Clio, such as matter data, contacts, and related information needed to provide the service.
- Workflow and document information: answers, templates, generated documents, and related information you provide or generate through Trev.
- Billing information: subscription and payment status. Payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by Trev.
- Technical information: log data, device information, browser type, IP address, security events, and usage information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and manage Trev accounts;
- provide Clio-connected workflow and document automation features;
- generate documents using your firm’s templates and inputs;
- process subscriptions and billing through Stripe;
- provide support for subscription questions and internal bug fixes;
- maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Trev;
- communicate with users about their account or service updates;
- comply with legal, security, and contractual obligations.
4. Clio data
Trev accesses Clio data only when authorized by your firm or an authorized user. We use Clio-connected data to provide the features you request, including matter-based workflows and document generation.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Trev and any data you connect, upload, or process through Trev complies with your professional, contractual, and legal obligations.
5. AI-assisted features
Trev may use AI-assisted features to help prefill workflows, summarize information, or assist with document-related tasks. AI-generated outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed by an authorized user before use.
Trev is a software tool and does not provide legal advice.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Trev uses essential cookies and similar technologies to provide secure login, account functionality, billing, fraud prevention, and service security. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies unless we update this policy and provide any required notice or choice.
7. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate Trev, including hosting, authentication, payment processing, security, support, and infrastructure providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse or security issues, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
8. Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe. Trev may receive limited billing information, such as payment status, customer identifiers, subscription status, and transaction metadata. Stripe processes payment information according to its own terms and privacy policy.
9. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Trev, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support legitimate business and security purposes.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Your choices
You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of certain information by contacting us. We may need to verify your request before responding.
You may also disconnect Trev from Clio through the relevant Clio or Trev account settings, where available.
12. California privacy notice
If California privacy laws apply to your use of Trev, California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain uses or disclosures of personal information. Trev does not sell personal information or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising based on the current service configuration.
13. Children
Trev is intended for business use by law firms and is not directed to children.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
